GROUP PROGRAMS
Vaughan Academy of music offers group programs for the young, young at heart and everyone in-between enhancing musical experiences through learning, singing and playing together. Group playing greatly develops the musician as they learn to focus more deeply on their own playing while being a part of the whole.
Kinder
Our Kinder program is designed for ages 3-6. The teacher guides the children through a comprehensive approach to learning music that includes singing, listening, structured and expressive movements, rhythm activities, playing classroom instruments, and visual representations of notation. This program is specifically designed to engage young children and keep their interest in learning music.
Theory
Theory supports the student with understanding, playing and writing music more proficiently. Vaughan Academy of Music teaches all levels of Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) theory including Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT).
Theory is a co-requisite for students taking RCM examinations to obtain their certificates in their instrument studies for level 5 onward.
Up to level 4, theory can be taught during private instrument classes or in group theory classes.
Group theory classes are a co-requisite at Vaughan Academy for students Level 5 – 8.
Private theory classes for levels 9,10, ARCT and any other level for additional support including university preparation are also available. Contact us for placement and rates.
Choir
Saturday afternoons 2:00pm – 2:45pm students have the opportunity to sing in Vaughan Academy’s choir and perform in the Winter and Summer concert!
ALL AGES AND LEVELS WELCOME.
Choir is a complimentary class for all students already registered with Vaughan Academy of Music. Choir is also open to all who wish to learn to sing and reap the numerous benefits for the brain while singing in a group.

Band
Friday evenings 8pm – 9pm students have the opportunity to play in Vaughan Academy’s band and perform in the Winter and Summer concert! Jazz, blues, pop culture and more are some songs the band is currently working on.
All instruments welcome at a late beginner/early intermediate level and above.
Band is a complimentary class for all students already registered with Vaughan Academy of music. Band is also open as an additional class to all who wish to learn, develop and strengthen as dynamic musicians by playing in a group.

Violin & Viola Ensemble
Saturday afternoons 3:00pm – 4:00pm students have the opportunity to play in Vaughan Academy’s Violin and Viola Ensemble and perform in the Winter and Summer concert!
All welcome in the late beginner/early intermediate levels and above.
Ensemble is a complimentary class for all students already registered with Vaughan Academy of music. Ensemble is also open as a class to all who wish to learn, develop and strengthen as a dynamic musician by playing in a group.

French Musicale
The perfect fusion of vocals and French, as a group, students will deepen their vocal skills while expanding their French by learning and singing French songs. Contact us for details.
