SPECIALTY PROGRAMS
Vaughan Academy offers unique programs deepening musical fundamentals, completing formal training and provides opportunities to perform.
Theory
Theory supports the student with understanding, playing and writing music more proficiently. Vaughan Academy of Music teaches all levels of Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) theory including Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT).
Theory is a co-requisite for students taking RCM examinations to obtain their certificates in their instrument studies for level 5 onward.
Upto level 4, theory can be taught during private instrument classes or in group theory classes.
Group theory classes are a co-requisite at Vaughan Academy for students Level 5 – 8.
Private theory classes for levels 9,10, ARCT and any other level for additional support are also available. Contact us for placement and rates.
High School Accreditation
Preparatory classes are available for students preparing for RCM exams eligible for High School Accreditation available for Grade 11 and Grade 12 credits. Contact us for details.

Multi-Instrumental (trial)
During an 8 week period, students have a unique opportunity to explore a variety of 3-5 different instruments to discover which instrument(s) they like most and suites the student well.
This process saves the time and frustration of choosing an instrument that may not be the best fit for the student. Once the 8 week period is complete, the student and parents will know with confidence which instrument they wish to pursue.
The student’s motivation to practice and study increase when they’ve chosen their own instrument(s), in collaboration with the parents support and involvement, creating a more joyful musical experience.
Success is a team effort including the student, parent and teacher.
Students also have the opportunity of choosing more than one instrument to learn simultaneously which is part of Vaughan Academy’s Combimania Specialty Program.
Combimania
Students have the opportunity to learn, develop and broaden their musical skills through multiple instruments concurrently. Increase fine-motor coordination, musical literacy and multiply synaptic connections. Speak to us to make arrangements and experience the benefits.
